Nur Hossain Names of some influential people have been reveled in the statements made by Narayanganj seven-murder case prime accused Nur Hossain in Kolkata. Before the seven-murder Nur Hossain had talked to his influential political leader and big brother alongside the three arrested RAB officials. Not only that financial assistance used to be taken from Nur Hossain by influential minister, MP,
advisor and presidium member of the ruling party. Such information has been revealed in the statements made by Nur Hossain to different agencies including Kolkata police after his arrest. Meanwhile, due to legal complication it is not being possible to bring back Nur Hossain to Bangladesh, according to sources close to Kolkata police. It is learnt that different agencies including Kolkata police extensively interrogated Nur Hossain during his 36 days of remand in three phases. During quizzing Nur Hossain divulged different information about incidents that took place before the murder and afterwards. He also replied to different questions of Kolkata police regarding his arrival to Kolkata after the incident and his staying here. Although the issue of seven murders in Bangladesh came up during his interrogation by Kolkata police those have not been placed before the court. In this regard sources said, the incidents in Bangladesh are not relevant to the case filed in Kolkata. This has not taken place there. Due to this reason the issues have not come up in media and court of West Bengal. A responsible source said, since his presence in Kolkata different agencies went all out to find out Nur Hossains whereabouts and arrest him. Later, the issue of Nur Hossain came up to the police and other agencies over an incident of scuffle at a bar. After that he was arrested. Later different agencies quizzed him in phases. During the interrogation not only Kolkata but Bangladesh issue also came to the fore. Nur Hossain then opened his mouth and stated the story of his rise. In his confession Nur further said the son of an influential minister was his business partner. They used to control the sand filed from Narayangaj to Kanchpur area. Besides in Dhaka an MP of an adjacent district who resides in Dhanmondi area also had close relations with Nur Hossain. Although, he had good relations with Shamim Osman of Narayanganj, he had good relations with slain Narayanganj city panel Mayor Nazrul Islam, claimed Nur Hossain. Nur Hossain used to give big amount of money every month to a presidium member of Awami League and an advisor of the party. In view of this he was amid big political dream. Those people assured Nur of taking him to further higher place. During interrogation, Nur further claimed that he had good relations with the arrested three RAB officials Lt Col (Rtd) Tareque Sayeed Mohammad, Major (Rtd) Arif Hossain and Lt Commander (Rtd) SM Mausd Rana. However, Nur Hossain was in direct contact with Maj Arif and the former made transactions with the latter. It was Maj Arif who distributed the underhand dealings and undue privileges to other officials. The former RAB officials concerned used to extend help to Nur Hossain in the critical situation. In the last stage, being patronised by political and administrative figures, Nur Hossain considered himself to be untouched. The uncertainty over bringing Nur Hossain back home is not removed yet for lack of prisoner swap agreement with India. Although Bangladesh has initiated diplomatic effort, the move is being disrupted due to legal barriers. A source of Kolkata police said it will not be possible to send Nur Hossain unless and until trial procedure initiated against him is exhausted. Notably, Kolkata police arrested Narayanganj-7 killing prime accused Nur Hossain and his two cohorts Wahiduzzaman Selim and Khan Sumon from a multi-storey building at Koikhali area near Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Airport there. On April 27, seven persons including Narayanganj city corporation mayor Nazrul Islam and local bar lawyer Chandan Sarker were abducted and killed. Their bodies were found from Shitalakkhya river three days later. Family members of slain Nazrul Islam filed a case soon after the abduction naming Nur Hossain as the no-1 accused. However, Nur Hossain along with his two cohorts managed to flee India. On June 14, they were arrested and placed on 8-day remand. Later, they were sent to judicial custody on two occasions. From the outset of his arrest, Nur Hossain had been refusing his complicity in the 7-killing case. Rather, he said Kolkata police arrested him despite having passport, visa and other necessary documents. Baguihati police said Nur and his cohorts were arrested for illegal trespassing.
