Hold dialogue or face movement: Khaleda:Daily Sun

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia threatened to wage a tougher movement against the Awami League-led government if it does not sit for a dialogue immediately on an early general election. After the January 5 general election, we gave 10 months time to the government. We thought they would sit for a dialogue to arrange a credible and fair election, but they did not pay any heed. We will now wage a mo
vement, she said. The BNP chairperson made the remarks at a views-exchange meeting with pro-BNP upazila chairmen, vice-chairmen and women vice-chairmen from Rajshahi division at her Gulshan office in the city on Monday night. We will launch a fresh movement to realise our demand for an early election. We will go ahead with the movement to ensure peoples rights, to save democracy, to put an end to killing and enforced disappearance and to ensure justice, Khaleda said. First, we will hold mass-contact programmes across the country. And then we will announce our movement, she added. Khaleda asked the party men to remain prepared for the movement. Whenever I will make a call, you will come forward. We will protect democracy through our movement. Terming the incumbent government unelected and illegal, the BNP chief said, This government is worse than Pakistani occupation forces and autocrat Ershad as it kills people of the country indiscriminately. She also alleged that everyone from the No. 1 of the government to MP and ministers is involved in corruption, but the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is giving them clean chit.
