Former adviser to caretaker government Akbar Ali Khan yesterday said police had gone under the absolute control of politics in Bangladesh due to a faulty legal system. The legal system, which was introduced by the British, was faulty. Massive changes in the system are very crucial, he said. He was addressing a discussion titled "Seven Years of Separation" of the judiciary organised by Humanity Fou
ndation, a non-government rights body, at the National Press Club. "If necessary steps are not taken against this, if police commission is not formed, if the laws for police are not amended, the situation may deteriorate," he noted. So, separation of judiciary is not enough to establish people's rights to justice. Necessary changes must be brought in the police system as well, he viewed. Advertisement
