PM for bringing down border killing to zero level:Daily Sun

PMO Photo Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday stressed bringing down killings along the Indo-Bangla border to zero level immediately, reports UNB. “The border killings should be brought down to zero level and proper steps need to be taken soon to ensure t
hat,” she said when visiting Indian Home Secretary Anil Goswami met her at her Sangsad Bhaban office. PM’s press secretary AKM Shameem Chowdhury briefed reporters after the meeting. About drug smuggling, the Prime Minister said coordinated and united efforts among Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Myanmar are needed to stop it. Hasina also reaffirmed her government’s zero tolerance policy to terrorism in its all forms and said Bangladesh would not allow anybody to use its soil for terrorist acts. “All kinds of terrorism and militancy will have to be eliminated to create a congenial atmosphere for ensuring desired development of the region,” she added. Lauding the contributions of India and its people during Bangladesh’s Liberation War, she said, the people of Bangladesh remember with gratitude their great support at that time. The Indian Home Secretary is now in Bangladesh to attend the home secretary-level talks between Bangladesh and India. At the meeting, both sides agreed to hold Deputy Commissioner-level meetings along the border of the two countries to monitor and quickly resolve border-related problems. Goswami expressed his government’s willingness to impart training to Bangladesh Police Personnel at the Hyderabad Police Academy in India. The Indian Home Secretary also lauded Sheikh Hasina’s government for achieving food autarky in Bangladesh. Principal Secretary Abdus Sobhan Sikder, Home Secretary Dr Mozammel Haque Khan, IGP Hasan Mahmud Khandaker, Director General of BSF DK Pathak and Indin High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pankaj Saran were present.
