BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia is trying her best to inspire the party men for the new course of movement to compel the incumbent government to arrange an early general election under non-party government. Now the BNP chief is visiting different districts and addressing several programmes of the party delivering speech making call to her party men to prepare for the next course of movement at the s
ame time giving promises that she herself would take to street in the movement. She is also giving promise to the grassroots leaders and workers that although the movement was not waged in Dhaka city during the January 5 general election, now they will wage movement in the capital city too like other parts of the country. Party insiders said having failed to resist the 10th parliamentary election on January 5 last year, BNP wants to bounce back and wage another phase of movement to unseat the current Awami League-led government and to compel it to hold an early general election under non-party government. Khaleda Zia is visiting different districts to revamp the party men, to inspire them for the new phase of anti-government movement and to mobilize the public support in favour of their movement. It is learnt that in the light of the bitter experience in the previous movement, the BNP grassroots leaders and activists took decision not to respond to the central leaders’ call for movement if they do not take to the streets in the capital. The grassroots are very much unhappy with the central leaders and cannot rely on them in view of their failure in the last movement over the January 5 general election when the top leaders of the party and its Dhaka city unit did not take to street and went underground to escape arrest. Now the BNP chairperson is visiting different districts and addressing public rallies across the country in a bid to revamp the party men and to inspire them for the new phase of movement while she already addressed public rallies in Rajbari, Munshiganj, Bogra, Joypurhat, Brahmanbaria, Jamalpur and Nilphamari districts. Addressing a view exchange meeting with pro-BNP chairman, vice chairman and women vice chairmen of upazila parisahd of Barisal and Khulna divisions at her Gulshan office, she said “We have given 10 months’ time to the government. Time is ripe to wage movement. We are admitting our failure that earlier, we couldn’t wage movement in Dhaka, but now we will have to wage movement everywhere.” In a public rally of Nilphamari, Khaleda said “I will attend a public rally in Natore on October 30. After that I will call you all on time when to wage a movement. We will go back home after unseating the Awami League government. Election will be held under a neutral government.” Meanwhile, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s recent speech has made the party grassroots leaders and workers frustrated as she did not give any specific direction of movement. She recently warned, “People will not wait for dialogue for an indefinite period. We are preparing ourselves for movement by strengthening our party and coordinating other organisations. Later, we will launch a tougher movement.”
