Movement soon to oust govt: Khaleda:Daily Sun

Khaleda Zia BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Sunday said her party will start soon its new phase of a united movement to unseat the incumbent government. People have their backs to the wall. The government didnt pay heed to our call. Now, we have no time to sit idle, she said. Khaleda made the remarks while addressing a discussion arranged by Jatiyatabadi Muktijoddha Dal, a platform of pro-BNP fr
eedom fighters, at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh in the capital. Claiming that the countrymen want a change of the regime, she said, Well start a movement along with the people immediately. Well take the people to the streets to face the challenge. Our peaceful movement will wash away the autocrat, illegal government. Khaleda demanded an inclusive general election through creating a level-playing field for all political parties, adding that election commission, administration and police must be placed in a non-partisan position. Free and peaceful environment will have to be created to hold the polls. We have been calling to find a way for holding an inclusive election through dialogues and discussions. One year has already gone by. The condition of people and the situation of the country are getting deteriorated day by day. The former premier said there is no democracy and so there is not a democratic government in the country. Fair justice remains elusive, rights have been snatched away, essential prices shot up, youths drawn into the life of drug, question papers leaked and institutions politicised Hinting at pro-BNP freedom fighters, Khaleda said: In this worst-case scenario, you cannot stay silent. You know that revolt against injustice is legal. Now, time has come to organise the legal revolt. Prepare in this month of victory. A particular party is distorting history of the liberation war and it becomes angry without giving a fitting reply with information when anyone challenges the distorted history, she mentioned. Their role was questionable during the war of liberationThey want to hide their weakness and failure using emotions, instead of revealing the truth of history. Khaleda said, Freedom fighters are architects and greatest sons of the soil. They were and are still used as political pawns. But we will never do that. If her party goes to power next, she said, they will make a move to form a greater national unity among freedom fighters and will reschedule the current list of the valiant warriors. BNP leaders Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Moudud Ahmed, Abdullah Al Noman, Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury, Shahjahan Omar, Hafizuddin Ahmed, Mirza Abbas, LDP Chairman Oli Ahmad, Bangladesh Kalyan Party Chairman Syed Muhammad Ibrahim and Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder Zafrullah Chowdhury also spoke at the event chaired by Jatiyatabadi Muktijoddha Dal President Ishtiak Aziz Ulfat.
