PM listens to audio clips of Khaleda's phone talks:Daily Star

In an unusual instance, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina along with her colleagues in the cabinet yesterday listened to a leaked audio clip of Khaleda Zia's telephone conversation with some of the BNP leaders centring a party rally three years ago. At the cabinet meeting, Hasina said it was clear that the BNP chief had ordered her party men to carry out the subversive activities on that day. She, howe
ver, did not tell the meeting whether or not those leaders would be arrested, a minister told The Daily Star. On listening to Khaleda's conversations, some minsters demanded arrest of those leaders who helped Khaleda to carry out the subversive activities in the name of a rally of freedom fighters in 2011, said the minister, wishing anonymity. The latest incident took place at a time when the BNP-led alliance has been enforcing a nonstop countrywide blockade since January 6. And, some AL leaders have been asking the government to take stern actions against Khaleda for the ongoing violence. The BNP chief had had the conversation on December 18, 2011. On that day, the BNP organised a reception programme for freedom fighters in celebration of the country's 40 years of independence. But early in the morning of the day, a series of hand made bombs went off in the city as hundreds of activists of BNP and its key ally Jamaat clashed with police, vandalised more than a dozen vehicles and set some of those on fire. One person was killed and several others were injured. Any time of that day, Khaleda Zia talked to some of her party leaders over the telephone. And she was heard directing the leaders to ensure that the opposition men took to the streets. Advertisement The audio files of Khaleda's conversations were uploaded on youtube by Bangla Leaks. After the formal meeting of the cabinet, five audio clips of Khaleda's phone conversations were played on loudspeakers, sources in the meeting said.
