The leave of many cops has been cancelled. At least 15,000 rounds of bullet had to be used by police to resist the anarchists. This is learnt from sources at home ministry and police headquarters. Miscreants have been launching random attacks on the people since January 5 in the name of movement for fresh elections. They are also publicly swooping on law enforcers and sometimes attacking police stations also. Inspector General of Police AKM Shahidul Haque said cops have to work for extra time due to blockade-hartal. BNP-Jamaat alliance are killing innocent people and causing massive loss of vehicles by hurling petrol bombs. Police drive is continuing to nab the saboteurs. However, the situation in the country is now better than before, he added. According to sources, among the areas affected seriously by BNP-Jamaat attacks are Manikganj, Bogra, Chapainawabganj, Sylhet, Joypuhat, Gaibandha, Rangpur, Barisal, Chittagong, Comilla, Laxmipur, Feni and Jamalpur. At some of these places 200 cops received injuries in attacks by the miscreants. Of them police constable Shamim was killed in a petrol bomb attack in front of Matsya Bhaban in the capital. In the latest incident two sub-inspectors were injured in bomb attacks by miscreants in Paltan area on March 9. State minister for home affairs Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said, “BNP alliance has been continuing subversion in the name of movement and damaging state properties. While trying to resist the sabotage cops are coming under attack. Yet they are discharging their duties properly. People are not responding to the movement of BNP-Jamaat.
