According to sources, any person who was victim to Shajahan’s exasperation had to leave the university campus. Any one, who did not agree to cooperate with him in looting students’ money, was axed from the university. The education ministry and University Grants Commission (UGC) are investigating into the matter. A popular singer, also a teacher of the university lodged complain to Prime Minister’s Office, education ministry and UGC after leaving university. It is learnt that the university turned into a corruption den due to Shajahan’s autocratic role. He established self-proclaimed law in the university defying rules of the university. Shahjahan plays role behind the scene against any decision of the Trustee Board and the VC. Earlier, he used to dictate the VC and trustee boards members. Meanwhile, several sources said the university authorities terminated Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr Meskat Uddin by defying Private University Law-2010. Sources said that he was terminated as he opposed unlawful decisions of the Trustee Board. As per the Private University Law, Vice Chancellor of a private university can sack pro-VC for any reason. But before termination, the accused should be given scope for self defence. But VC and the Trustee Board of the university sacked Meskat Uddin from the university by defying law. He did not get any opportunity to defend himself. Dr Meskat Uddin told this correspondent that the university authorities sacked him on the charge of certificate forgery against him. There is no scope to raise any allegation of forging against my PhD certificate. I obtained Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from Cleveland State University of United States in 1977. It is equivalent to PhD degree. A vested quarter is involved in spreading propaganda against me. I was not given any scope to defend myself.” It is learnt that the university administration is run by one-man. VC and Trustee Board impose decision on teachers and staff being influenced by former chairman Shahjahan. Many issues regarding appointment of teachers and staff and changes in curriculum have been ignored. Appointment of deans and chairmen of different faculties are being made by his choice. Teacher and staff are being sacked almost every time without serving any notice. Meskat Uddin was sacked from the university as he did not support the unlawful decision of the Trustee Board and VC. North-South University came under criticism due to alleged involvement of some teacher and employees in extremism and militancy. He drew several crores of taka of the university at will and spent it recklessly.
