Biman Bangladesh Airlines on Sunday temporary suspended 10 employees for their alleged involvement in the smuggling of 124 kilograms of gold, a day after they were sued over the biggest-ever gold haul at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in 2013. e Branch (DB) of Police. A Biman official said the 10 employees of the national flag carrier, whose name appeared in the first information report (FIR) of the case, were temporary suspended for their alleged involved in gold smuggling. Mustafa Jamal, assistant revenue officer of the Customs, filed the case with Airport Police Station in the capital on Friday night. The case was filed after one and a half years of the gold haul. Mohammad Shah Alam, Officer-in-Charge of the police station, said the case was handed over to DB on Sunday. DB will investigate the case. However, none of the accused was arrested till Sunday night. A DB official said six of the accused were arrested in connection with other gold smuggling cases earlier, but they are now on bail. According to the case details, the 10 Biman officials are — aircraft mechanic Masudur Rahman, mechanic assistant Anis Uddin Bhuiyan, junior inspection officer Shahjahan Siraj, junior security officer Kamrul Hasan, cleaning supervisor Abu Zafar, mechanic Mujibur Rahman, engineering hanger mechanic Osman Gani, engineer officer Saleh Ahmed, and hanger workers Raihan Ali and Maksud. The other four accused in the case are Jasim, Indian citizen Jason Prince, Nepali citizen Gauranga Rosan, and his Bangladeshi agent Milon Sikdar.
