Inu regrets Mohsin's comments on journos:Daily Star

Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu yesterday offered apology and regretted the derogatory remarks of Social Welfare Minister Syed Mohsin Ali about journalists. In future, cabinet members as well as common people will have to remain careful about making “provocative” statements keeping in mind the provisions of the national broadcasting policy, he told a press conference at the Press Informatio
n Department. The press meet was organised to clarify the government's stance on the broadcasting policy. Speaking at a discussion in Sylhet on Saturday, Mohsin Ali said journalists are “dirty chaps and of bad character”.    Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in an informal discussion at the weekly cabinet meeting yesterday told Mohsin Ali, “You've become a minister and now you can't say whatever you wish to say. You'll have to speak keeping everyting in mind.” Referring to his smoking on a dais, the PM said the media rather helped him in quitting smoking that he could not give up in his entire life. “So what makes you angry with the newsmen?” she questioned. According to meeting sources, the minister defended himself saying that he had reacted to criticism of the government from some journalist leaders at the programme.   ABOUT TUBA UNREST Advertisement Hasina told the cabinet that had the BGMEA paid wages to the Tuba Group workers before the Eid-ul-Fitr, there would not have been any complications. Condemning the Israeli attacks on Gaza, she questioned the role of the Arab countries in this regard.
