The government moves to accommodate surplus non-cadre public servants by creating supernumerary posts through formulation of a law in this regard, official sources said. The public administration ministry has already prepared the draft of a law to create supernumerary posts for accommodating surplus public servants, ministry sources said. Currently, there are 90 surplus public servants under dif
ferent ministries, the sources said. We have prepared the draft law and sent it to the law ministry for its vetting after making some corrections, a ministry official said on condition of anonymity. After getting the nod from the law ministry, the draft law will be placed before the cabinet for its approval, the official added. The draft law stipulates that if it is not possible to absorb any public servant in the same scale post, he/she should be posted in the created posts either under public administration or any other ministries. A non-cadre public servant to be absorbed will enjoy all sorts of benefits which are being enjoyed by the officials of the same status, according to the proposed law. It also mentions that the created supernumerary posts will be abolished after completion of the service tenure of those to be accommodated. Sources at the ministry said that the draft of the law has been prepared by translating and modifying some ordinances enacted during the marshal law regime.
