PM stresses political will to ensure welfare of autistic children:Daily Sun

id this when a 10-member delegation of autism specialists, led by Julien Pitton, met her at her Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban office in the evening. After the meeting, Prime Minister’s Press Secretary AKM Shameem Chowdhury briefed reporters. Hasina underscored the need for creating mass awareness about autism developmental disorders and said the social perception about it needs to be changed as it should not be considered as a curse. The delegation members lauded the Prime Minister’s involvement in activities on autism and her experience about it saying that all her experience and activities should be replicated in other countries for the welfare of autistic children. The delegation members said they are convinced that Sheikh Hasina would be able to ensure the welfare of the autistic children through her future activities. In this connection, the delegation members said the activities of the Prime Minister on autism would have tremendous impact on other countries. They also lauded the Prime Minister for her presence at the side event on autism during the 32nd Meeting of Ministers of Health of Countries of the WHO South-East Asia Region.
