UAE to appoint labour attaché in Dhaka for manpower import:Daily Sun

Zayed Al Nahyan said this as he met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her hotel. “The UAE Foreign Minister during the meeting told the Prime Minister that they’ve a plan to appoint a labour attaché to their Bangladesh mission,” Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali said while briefing reporters after the meeting held at the bilateral meeting room of the hotel. PM’s Media Adviser Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Foreign Secretary M Shahidul Haque and Press Secretary AKM Shameem Chowdhury were also present. During the meeting, the Foreign Minister said the Bangladesh Prime Minister and the UAE Foreign Minister discussed various issues of mutual interests, including trade and investment in a cordial atmosphere. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan said he visited Bangladesh in 2009 and has a plan to visit it again in the near future. Mahmood Ali said the plan to appoint a labour attaché by the UAE is a positive move as well as a positive development. “We’re working and we’re discussing to get a joint communiqué at the end of the visit,” he said. Meanwhile, the Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training (BMET) of Bangladesh and professional labour recruiting agency (Amala) group of the UAE signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the St Regis Hotel. Under the MoU, The UAE will recruit 1,000 female workers in 14 areas, including housemaids, drivers, and gardeners, from Bangladesh in the first phase and more would be recruited later. Director General of BMET Shamsun Nahar and Chairman of Amala group Humaid Mohammed Al Muhiri signed the MoU on behalf of their respective sides. With the signing of this MoU, female workers could be sent to the UAE through favourable terms and conditions so that the security of female workers could be ensured. Amala is formed through the Social Security Fund of the Home Ministry of UAE.
