Hasina for expediting AL organisational activities:Daily Sun

Sheikh Hasina Prime Minister and Awami League president Sheikh Hasina on Friday issued directives to all units for expediting organisational activities of the party. She also directed the party leaders to complete the grassroots councils of the organisation on immediate basis to take preparations for the national council which is supposed to be held in December next year. The premier issued the in
structions in an informal meeting with party leaders held at AL president’s political office at Dhanmondi in the capital on Friday afternoon. Sheikh Hasina visited party’s Dhanmondi office on the day after a long time and stayed there for 70 minutes. AL general secretary and LGRD minister Syed Ashraful Islam welcomed her when she reached party’s Dhanmondi office at about 4:00pm. After the informal meeting with PM, Syed Ashraful Islam, in a press briefing, told journalists that AL president has sought information about party’s organizational activities from the leaders. “She (Sheikh Hasina) has directed us to complete councils of the party grassroots on immediate basis. She also sought information about the districts where we have completed councils and the districts where we are yet to hold councils,” he said. Ashraf said that the PM asked party leaders to complete councils on urgent basis. He also informed that discussion was also held about holding party’s national committee meeting. He said that AL will call its national committee meeting very soon for taking approval of party’s budget. Asked about forming party’s Dhaka city unit committees, Syed Ashraf said that the list of new committees is in the hands of party chief and the committees will be announced very soon. “We have decided to divide the party in two parts in the capital. We will hold council of the city committees again after announcing new committees,” he said. Syed Ashraf said that in the past Sheikh Hasina was regular in her political office but she hardly comes here after being Prime Minister because her movement is restricted and creates public sufferings. “This is why she hardly comes here despite eagerness to come to her political office. She came here today (Friday) in a surprise visit,” he added. Asked about BNP senior vice-president Tarique Rahman, Syed Ashraf said that he is nothing but an insolent so there is no logic to counter his statement. “He (Tarique) is ignorant that filing case is not possible against a dead person in anywhere of the world. So, it is unnecessary to give reply to this insolent person,” Ashraf added. AL advisory council member HT Imam, presidium member Matia Chowdhury, Nuh-ul-Alam Lenin and Shahara Khatun and joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif, among others, were present.
