After the meeting, Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali said Sheikh Hasina wanted to know about the progress of the land boundary agreement and Teesta water sharing issue from her Indian counterpart. In reply, Modi told Hasina that he is making strong efforts to resolve the issues quickly and mentioned that there is a consensus being made on the matters in India. About the Teesta water sharing, Modi said negotiations are going on over the issue. On terrorism, both the leaders reiterated their firm commitment to contain the menace. The Indian Prime Minister said the Joint Parliamentary Committee of India would submit a report on the land boundary agreement and then the report would be discussed in both houses of Indian parliament— Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. He also requested her Bangladesh counterpart to send a delegation to Tripura, headed by a minister, to be present at the ensuing inauguration of the 2nd phase of the Palatana Power Plant. Modi also expressed his interest to visit Bangladesh. According to Indian External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin, Prime Minister Modi and his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina also discussed greater prospects of cooperation among democracies of South Asia.
