He emphasized regional cooperation for collective development of this region and expressed happiness over the significant progress made in power sector cooperation between the two countries. Noting the business opportunities in Bangladesh, he suggested that the Indian business community should explore the possibilities of greater investment in Bangladesh. The Prime Minister of India stressed the opportunities that exist for trade and commerce through sea and river routes. On the importance of regional cooperation, Modi also said there were complementarities between his governments Look East policy and the goals of Bimstec (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation). The Foreign Minister extended an invitation, on behalf of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, to the Indian Prime Minister to visit Bangladesh. The Indian Prime Minister said he looked forward to visiting Bangladesh at the earliest convenience.
