Photo: Anisur Rahman\Star Bone-chilling cold hit the people hard, especially in four districts of the country, while the capital dwellers yesterday experienced the lowest temperature of this season. A mild cold wave is sweeping over the regions of Pabna, Kushtia, Jessore and Chuadanga. A light depression over
the Bay of Bengal caused the cold wave, Met office said. The lowest temperature is recorded in Jessore at 9.4 degrees Celsius while the temperature of Dhaka was 13.4 yesterday. Due to the north-west flow of wind, the country is experiencing the cold wave, said a met official, adding that it will continue two-three more days. Farmers and day labourers are bearing the brunt of the ongoing cold spell. Many poor people are trying to combat this chilling cold with the heat from burning straw and old rubber tyres. It also said there is a possibility of rainfall at the end of this month, and after that temperature of some regions may go down. There will be another spell of cold wave on January 4 or 5 next year.
