Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq said the government is considering enacting a law regarding appointment of Supreme Court judges and setting their qualifications as per Bangladesh constitution, not in light of India. Replying to a question of opposition lawmaker AKM Maidul Islam in parliament on Monday, he said effective steps will be taken soon to enact law regarding ap
pointment of Supreme Court judges and set their qualifications. Anisul Huq said all the three accused who got death sentence in the jail killing case are absconding. “The three accused are Moslem Uddin, Sarafat Ali Shah and Abul Hashem. Apart from the three, seventeen accused have been awarded different jail terms,” he said while replying to a question of lawmaker Fazilatunnesa Bappy. The minister said the government is recruiting officials and employees to various courts of the country for getting rid of pending cases. “Process is also on to settle the criminal cases on immediate basis,” he said, replying to a question of lawmaker Muhibur Rahman Manik. Anisul Huq said case management committee has been formed at the initiative of chief justice to solve the problem of backlog of cases.
