Kh Mahbub, Zainul among 200 pro-BNP lawyers sued:Daily Sun

An attempt-to-murder case was filed against over 200 pro-BNP-Jamaat lawyers of the Supreme Court for attacking policemen and a private car of a justice on Monday. The BNP-led 20-party alliance vowed to stage a demonstration on the first anniversary of the Awami League government on January 5. Although BNP leader Khaleda Zia was confined in her office and others went into hiding, BNP-loyal lawyers
took out a procession the same day. When the lawyers were intercepted by law-enforcement agencies, they went ballistic and attacked the lawmen and the private car of Justice Farid Ahmed. Those sued include Khandaker Mahbub Hossain, Mahbub Uddin Khokon, Zainul Abedin, Sanaullah Miah, Tajul Islam, Fahima Nasreen Munni, Shahjahan Omar and Rima Akhter. The rest are unnamed accused. SI Mahbubul Alam, in-charge of Babupura police outpost under Shahbagh police station, filed the case on Monday night for obstructing police in the course of their duty, judicial services, attempting to murder and vandalising the car. Constable Mustafiz and security guard Alamgir were injured during the attack. Of the lawyers, Mahbub Hossain is Khaleda’s adviser while Khokon and others are the leaders of pro-BNP lawyers and the chairperson’s family lawyers. The accused, however, demonstrated on the court premises again on Tuesday in protest against the case. They threatened the government with dire consequences and said they would paralyse the court if the “false” case is not withdrawn.
