No talks with those who kill people:Daily Star

National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Chairman Prof Mizanur Rahman yesterday said dialogue cannot be held with the terrorists who are killing people through arson attack and blasting bombs. “Things that are taking place in the country right now in the name of democracy are pure terrorism. Terrorists do not know the language of democracy. There can be no dialogue with the terrorists. Sitting for
dialogue with them is like bowing to terrorism,” he said. The rights campaigner came up with the views while addressing a seminar at the National Press Club in the capital. Presided over by Mahfuza Khanom, the seminar was also addressed by Shirin Akhter, MP, Jatiya Nari Jote President Afroza Huq Rina, former Adviser to the caretaker government Rasheda K Chowdhury, Nazmunnesa Mahtab, Prof Kaberi Gayen, among others. He also extended his support to the recent statement of the director general of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on shooting the anarchist, saying, it does not violate human rights in anyway. “The director general of the BGB did not say anything about shooting the innocent people but to open fire just to ensure security and safety of the people and in self defence. For securing self-defence, BGB man does not need to make any prior announcement. When his life is coming under threat, he does not need to sit for discussion with anybody. Shooting in self-defence is fully legal. It does not violate law or human rights,” said Mizanur. Advertisement
