Sources at the ministry said that the education minister doesn’t want to see Hoque at the top position at BAU due to his alleged moral degradation and widespread corruption. “This is the reason why the minister is trying to gear-up the investigation process against Hoque. As the investigation is a lengthy process, the minister will ask the VC to resign from his post,” said a source at the ministry. It was leant that DTF leaders have submitted documents of multifaceted misdeeds of the BAU VC to Nahid during the meeting. After holding meeting with Nahid, the DTF leaders also met UGC chairman Prof AK Azad Chowdhury at his office on the same day. Participants at the meeting said that the UGC boss also assured the DTF leaders of taking harsh steps against Hoque. “It cannot be accepted that such a controversial man is holding the top position at a public university,” a source quoted UGC chairman Azad Chowdhury as saying. Misdeeds of Hoque came in fore after leak of some audio clips on March 17. After the event, most of the BAU teachers started waging movement against the VC demanding his resignation. They also brought allegation of corruption, bribery and unethical activities against the VC. Academic activities of the varsity have been plunged in deep crisis due to the misdeeds of Hoque.
