BNP not strong enough to topple govt: PM:Daily Sun

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday claimed that BNP would not get further strength to unseat the government as the party lost its strength by carrying out mayhem in the name of movement. “The BNP has lost its strength by carrying out anarchy in the name of movement. The party will not think further to unseat the government,” Hasina said during a video conference with Natore and Feni administra
tions.  The premier also directed the local administrations to bring the miscreants to book. “Identify those miscreants, who have killed people in the name of movement, and bring them to book. They should be tried,” she said after the weekly cabinet meeting at Bangladesh Secretariat. Mentioning the violence and anarchy in the last three months, the premier said, “I do not know what the BNP has achieved through violence and anarchy. She did a heinous crime. How a politician can carry out such activities? I do not think of such activities as our politics is for the people.” Bitterly criticising Khaleda Zia for such programme, the premier said she had to appear before the court and return home. “But Awami League remains the same. I hope they [BNP] will not get further strength to unseat the government,” she said. The premier directed the law enforcement agencies to take appropriate measures so that no one could carry out subversive activities and militancy. “Maintain law and order. Do not spare the miscreants as there has been no room for the acts of violence and militancy,” she said, thanking all concerned for overcoming a hard time. About the government’s development projects, the premier asked them to monitor the activities so that the development projects could be implemented. “We want to turn the country into a middle-income one by 2021. You have to work responsibly in a bid to achieve the target,” she said.
