Bangladesh Bank (BB) will strengthen the recruitment policy for the banking sector and bring more changes in the regulatory steps to enhance accountability and transparency in the banking sector under a five-year plan. The central bank announced this at a press conference Tuesday. The central bank decision is aimed at preventing financial crimes on the backdrop of recent loan forgeries and leak-
out of questions papers on the eve of exams for bank recruitment. "We will bring a 'total-change' in the recruitment policy. For this, we are working to establish a comprehensive recruitment system," BB deputy governor SK Sur Chowdhury said while addressing the press conference. The BB deputy governor, however, didn't elaborate the planned strategy for recruitment for bank jobs. Meanwhile, BB Governor Dr Atiur Rahman has announced that a three-day conference of the central banks General Managers will be held on September 4th-6th at BRAC CDM Centre in Savar. Dr Rahman said the conference is aimed at developing leadership among BB GMs to strengthen their capacity. "We are working to develop leadership in the central bank's officials in Dhaka, Chittagong and other regions," Dr Atiur Rahman told journalists. Deputy Governors Abu Hena Md Razee Hassan and Nazneen Sultana and BB's Change Management advisor Allah Malik Kazemi were present, among others, on the occasion.
