But question arising how long this situation will continue? According to labour survey-2010, in 2002-2003 fiscal, the number of working people in Bangladesh was 4,43,00000 which stood at 4,7400000 in 2005-06 fiscal. In 2010 the number of working people has increased to 5,41,00000. The yearly increasing of working people is not increasing according to population ratio which also is enhancing unemployment. In 2002-03, the number of unemployment was 20 lakh which stood at 26 lakh in 2010 while in 2002-03 it was 4.3 percent and stood 4.5 percent in 2010. It does not mean that the number of unemployment is 26 lakh in the country. The number of population is increasing. In 2002-03, some 3,45,00000 people remained outside from the manpower which increased 3,8900000 in 2010. Now old-age is a big problem in developed countries in Europe. Japan since long has been suffering due to lack of able manpower. The ratio of young manpower is more among the population of Bangladesh. According to last labour survey, on an average about 20 lakh educated and uneducated people of the country are entering job market every year. But there is an ample scope to provide the large number of population in job sector. Government has folded hands from the job market and private sector faces extra pressure for employment generation. New employment opportunities are not being created due to low pace of 269 related organizations in the housing sector. Mentioning importance of real estate and associate industries for employment, Mostafa Kamal Mohiuddin, Secretary General of Bangladesh Land Developers Association (BLDA) told this correspondent, The existence and advancement of 12000 industrial projects of 269 sub-industrial sectors are depending on development of housing industries. The employment generation of 1,50,00000 people and Tk 75000 crore investment are related with the real estate industries. Among the 14 big industrial sectors, this sector stands third due to its close connection with the economy. Some 850 workers used to work in RR Group, a parent organization of Onworld Developers Limited, two years ago. Now the number has come down to 550 persons. MA Bahar, MD of this group said, Our group has some other business houses. We are surviving through the earning of the business. We are giving salaries to the workers of housing company which is coming from water transport business. Many workers of their organisation did not get bonus in last Eid. Bonus was given to workers according to seniority in the office as required amount of money could not be arranged. Those who have been working for long got partial amount of bonus but others did not get anything. Owner of a housing company said previously he had 25 engineers working in his company but mow he has only 11. Even they do not have enough work as only one project is going on at present. He also said, Even five years ago we used to recruit people every year through advertisements. Recruitment also used to be done on request of different persons. But now job cut is going on. Owner of Habib Complex (Furniture manufacturing company) Mujibor Rahman said he had total 200 employees in his factory and showroom. But now he has only 40 employees. He said it is hard to pay employees as the sales are very low. This is why we are being bound to sack old employees. Previously monthly sale used to be Tk 12 to 15 lakh but now it is only Tk four to five lakh he added. Architecture organisations are also not getting work as housing industry is running slow. A worker in an architecture organisation in Banani said, Last year we got 35 projects. This year we got only nine. Three out of 15 architects were trimmed due to shortage of work. The company authority thinks the situation will not be good even in next year.
