Taher said the sorry state of the sector will be recovered after relocation of the tannery industry from Hazaribagh to Savar Tannery Estate. Tanners hope to collect 65-70 lakh pieces of cow hides and 30 to 35 lakh pieces of goat skins during the feast of sacrifice this year. To this end, the government has decided to give loan of Tk 500 crore to the stakeholders to purchase rawhide.
