Some 9,454 bullets of different firearms, including rifle and pistol, were recovered yesterday from the Satchhari National Forest in Chunarughat upazila in Habiganj, claimed Rapid Action Battalion. Members of Rab-9 also seized 80 magazines of rifle, SMG, pistol and five wireless sets. It is the fifth arms seizure incident by Rab-9 since they started a drive in the forest to recover the hidden arms
on June 2 this year. At a press conference in the afternoon, Riad Rayhan Rabbani, commanding officer of Rab-9, briefed the media about yesterday's operation. He said acting on a tip-off, Rab members conducted a drive in the morning and seized the bullets and other things from two bunkers in the forest, which is about three kilometres away from the Indian state of Tripura. The drive would continue, said sources of the Rab-9. The Rab on Thursday recovered three machine guns, four machine-gun barrels, eight magazines, eight magazine chains and a VHF radio set from underneath a spot at the forest. Advertisement Besides, the elite force seized a large number of arms and ammunition from the forest on June 3 and September 2 and 17. Amulya Kumar Chowdhury, officer-in-charge of Chunarughat Police Station, said five cases had so far been filed in connection with the arms and ammunition recovery.
